Pro Class Mix-up

This event was a little bit of a different story for me. Today, I decided to run in Don Kuehl's STR Miata and have some fun, while Ben and John run my RX-8 together. I guess that's one of the beauty's of Pro class is that you can hop into any other car and still compete for points!

Ben had done REALLY well, and surprisingly enough, he had done it with the rear suspension having a broken helper spring guide! We didn't know the suspension was having issues until we started wondering why the car was more tail happy than normal. Check out my next upcoming post as I'll be covering more about that later. Other than that, the coolant was overflowing again after runs, so I'm planning on replacing the coolant reservoir and cap with a 2009 variant.

The Miata was a ton of fun, but liked to step out in the rear a lot, forcing me to focus on being smooth and not as aggressive as I needed to be. I came in 12th out of 13 in Pro class with a '63.991 clean. Ben came in 2nd with a '58.570 clean, and John came 7th with a '59.458 clean. Great times this event, and was interesting running against my own car. Fun, but interesting. The rest of the results are located here.

Check out my video running Don's custom data acquisition overlaid on the video. Looks great with a lot of useful information! Under that is Ben's fastest run, followed by John's fastest run. YouTube Playlist here with the rest of the videos of the day. Thanks a million to Don for letting me co-drive with him for the day and the great data acquisition!
