Team Challenge - Soul Glo!

At the end of every year, NER holds the Team Challenge! Team Challenge consists of teams of four. Only two Moss competitors are allowed in each team. Each team member chooses a class to compete in, and aims to take first place in it (so clearly, you want to not compete in the same class as one of your teammates!) You are allowed to share cars as well. Which ever team has the most 1st place wins, wins the event! There are some trophies for other categories as well, such as best team costumes. It's too bad we don't have more team challenges throughout the year...

60's racing style?
I was supposed to be Jimmi Hendrix for Halloween, so I decided, "Hey, why not wear my costume since it's Team Challenge and people dress up all the time?" Since I was the only member on my team to dress up, we decided to go with the team name, Team "Soul Glo", due to my afro wig. For those that are unfamiliar with Soul Glo, it's from an old 1980's Eddie Murphy movie, "Coming to America". Our team consisted of John Rappa, Jeff Anderson, and Barbara Seiger.

Either way, it was one of those "Up and Back" courses that we all despise. It was decent, but I still prefer my full circle courses over an up and back any day. I ran a '44.964 clean, with John's fastest time as a '47.937 +1 cone in Dave's STX RX-8. Jeff ran a '47.609 clean as his fastest and Barbara came in with a '47.730 clean in her BS Corvette. Overall, the team finished 3rd place! Not too shabby I'd say. The full results are located here.

I want to send a shout out thanks to the entire NER club, as this year was definitely SCCA NER's best year I feel like. I feel like everyone is growing more and more as a family, which is exactly the environment I strive to have... I mean after all, this is racing, it's supposed to be fun! However, after this event, that's it for the year folks. No more racing until early April. Be sure to still stay tuned to see what I'll be working on during the winter in the mean time.

Below are videos of the team's fastest runs. The rest of the videos of the day are on my YouTube page in a playlist, located here.
