Renegade Spin Session

Josh Noble to the rescue!
Well, this event was quite embarrassing. Ever completely forget to check something that should be checked frequently, and it starts causing problems just as you forgot? Well, that was today, and boy did I pay the price.

It was a great course at Renegade Miata today that I didn't get to fully enjoy, and I even managed to convince Josh Noble to co-drive with me for the day as well! As you can see from the picture below, I have been running this set of Dunlop Star Spec Z1 tires for almost 3 years now, and they have pretty much had it. The event essentially was a spin session, as Josh and I were fighting to keep the car from kicking out every other right-hand turn. The tires just would not grip when trying to turn hard to the right, causing me to instantly lose control and spin out.
Hello first layer of rubber...
Needless to say, it was a poor mistake on my part. I guess I'll just have to finish the season at Renegade with my set of Hoosiers and go from there! I managed to somehow bag a decent time of 1'13.6 clean, and Josh also managed a 1'14.7 clean. Given the circumstances, I would say we did awesome. Big props to Josh for being able to work on his throttle control and manage the car during his runs.

Our results are located at Renegade Miata's website under their autocross section. Below are movies of Josh's and I's fastest runs, with the remaining playlist located on the YouTube page. I didn't bother uploading all the movies however, as most of them are just of us spinning. This definitely taught me a lesson of being more aware of my street tires.
